German CPI edges higher, matching expectations
German consumer price index rose 0.1% over the last 12 months to May, according to a preliminary estimate from the federal statistics office Destatis on Monday. The reading matches analysts expectations and comes after a -0.1% print in April.
Meanwhile the HICP, the CPI harmonized according to European Union standards, stood unchanged in May, beating consensus forecast of a 0.1% drop.
Over the month CPI rose 0.3% and the HICP 0.4%, both matching expectations.
